Historic New Braunfels is one of the top tourist attractions in Texas. The Main Plaza was built in 1845. In 1846,
Civil Engineer Nicolaus Zink designed the layout for Downtown New Braunfels and the adjoining acreage. This original
concept of human-scale urbanism is being duplicated in many new shopping centers around the country, but can be enjoyed
in its most authentic form in Historic Main Street Districts like Downtown New Braunfels. Then the Fountain was added
in 1895 to celebrate the 50th anniversary and the Bandstand was added in 1905.
The Comal County Courthouse, built in its beautiful Romanesque revival style, stands across from the Main Plaza.
The bell tower still announces the hour to the area.
- Live Theatre
The Brauntex Theatre is offering an expanded scope of programs which are artistic and very entertaining.
This series was designed to expose patrons to many areas of the arts with events for the entire family.
